Unity of the Brethren Convention

On July 6, 1908, Granger Brethren Church hosted the sixth convention of the Unity of the Brethren.

Sunday School Convention

Education has played an important part of the Brethren. Reverend Chlumsky began the first Sunday School and Bible instruction in 1889 and helped to organize the first Sunday School Union. Carrying on the educational tradition he founded, the 17th Sunday School Convention was held in Granger from July 30 to August 2, 1928.

At our Convention in Dallas ~1931

Reverend Barton presented precious treasures that the old Unity inherited: A King James Version Bible of 1593 and of 1613 printed abroad, songbooks, prayer books and other precious items: From the oldest Czech Brethren Evangelical church in America - Wesley, Texas, which was built in 1866, the chalice used by preachers Josef Opočensky and Adolf Chlumsky.

Steeple

On December 7, 1937, the Bell tower was consecrated. It is unique that the church was both built and renovated by the congregation itself.

The work on the bell tower is complete. The Church bells are ringing again. Thank you to members, Unity of the Brethren, community, and surrounding churches for your support in our efforts to preserve our historic church. Our next project is leveling the fellowship hall.
